Ilir Cepani
He served as a senior diplomat in the Embassies in Austria and Switzerland and in the Permanent Mission of Albania to the UN Agencies in Vienna during the years 1985–1996 and 2000–2005.
In the parliamentary elections in Albania in May 1996 and the unrest of March 1997, Mr. Ilir Çepani was an important mediator with the OSCE troika and during the mission of Mr. Franz Vranitzky in Albania, contributing to the establishment of a constructive dialogue between the conflicting parties.
As a diplomat of Albania, he played a significant role in the internationalization of the Kosovo issue leading to the declaration of independence in 2008. For this activity, the President of Kosovo awarded him decoration no. 160/2019 “For high contribution to the Independence of Kosovo.”
He has built his career by combining diplomatic experience with the UN Agencies in Vienna through international conferences and activities, as well as legal and institutional studies on national security, justice, and democratic reforms in Albania.
